Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Adviser at Save the Children, Freetown, Sierra Leone

Save the Children is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Food Security and Livelihoods Adviser in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The duration of this post is 6 months.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Food Security and Livelihoods Adviser will perform the following functions-
  • To actively participate in the development and delivery of the country office child poverty strategic and thematic plans.
  • Specifically lead in the definition of strategic axis of intervention on resilience, social protection, safety nets and livelihood support.
  • Ensure report are submitted in time while at the same time review relevant monitoring reports to donors to ensure that technical debates are well articulated and reports are of acceptable quality before submission.
  • Provide support where necessary to improve report writing skills.
  • Lead the systematic documentation of project impact, lessons learnt and corrective measures based on case studies, compilation and analysis of monitoring information in close collaboration with the MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) team.
  • Lead in the evaluation and review process for all food security and livelihood projects including the development of terms of reference, selection and management of consultants.
  • Build on technical knowledge, latest research in the sector and current/previous programming to develop proposals for new programming in close coordination with the programme staff.
  • Ensure all new programming supports the achievement of Save the Children country strategy and thematic objectives.
  • Liaise with the operations department to ensure that service providers and or partners needed for the different activities are engaged, assessed and contracts and or MOUs signed and agreed upon.
  • Master’s Degree in agronomy, development economics, food security or any relevant field.
  • Extensive and substantive relevant practical experience may be considered in lieu of a Master’s Degree.
  • Postgraduate qualification in discipline related to agronomy, development economics, food security or other relevant discipline or commensurate work experience in lieu of postgraduate qualification.
  • Develop market based programming promoting a better nutrition for children and livelihoods development in an integrated approach.
  • Extensive experience in data management and analysis, including electronic data collection tools design, database design and management and data quality checks.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
